NO HEADLIGHTS!!!

Post by beautyfiend »

I was driving last night and suddenly came to an area which didn't have alot of lamposts. I realised that I couldn't really see anything so got out to have a look.
My headlight arn't working- just the sidelights and also my full beam lights won't stay on.

So, today I took it to VW and one of the workshop guys had a quick look at it. He checked the bulbs-they were fine, then he checked the fuses again fine.

He says he thinks it's the actual switch- said it felt a bit funny... The service man said the switch is gonna cost about £60 and if it is the switch it'll probably take about 30mins. So I'm thinking the least it's gonna be is like £95 :( .Anything over £130- I'm not gonna be able to afford it!!!
The cars now booked in for Thursday and I'm s**t myself that it's gonna be more than just a switch and gonna be the wiring or something.

Typical, the cars not needed anything for the year that I've had it and now this happens like 2 weeks after I've just spent £350 on a service and cambelt change. And it's not something that I can ignore! I've gotta use it over the next 3 days so I'm hoping I'm not gonna get pulled over. If I do should I just pretend that I didn't realise or what- what can they do- fine me?
Anyone had any problems like this?

Unfortunately lots of money in one go is one of the 'joys of motoring'!

You might get a warning, a fine or a vehicle rectification notice; whereby you have a limited amount of time to fix it and take it to an MOT tester who will confirm that the fault has been fixed. (i think)

If you've been told its the switch get out to a scrappy and rip one out of a MK4 Polo or MK2 Ibiza/Cordoba theyre all the same its just a plug to plug in, ten min job.
