Torque Settings for Head Bolts

Post by Callum »

Hey everyone

Does anyone know the torque settings for the head bolts, I think it's 30nm then 90' then 90 again?? Can anyone confirm?

Also, do the headbolts need changing, I know a lot of the them do now, so thought it's best to check!!

Cheers

Callum, sorry I can't answer your question.

Off topic I know, but I'm sure I saw your gti parked up in Broadbridge Heath a couple of months ago. It was parked in the layby next to the field with the swings - it looked very sweet !

I try to keep it clean, I'm chuffed it's been spotted!!

I can't wait to get it back on the road, fed up with driving a transit!!

The spec only differentiates SOHC or DOHC, so for DOHC its 30Nm then 90 deg and then 90 deg again.

The 90 Degrees does suggest you are stretching the bolts, and so the probably do need changing. But the haynes manual doesn't say so.
