weird noise please help

Post by danny_boy »

hey everyone ive noticed today and yesterday a weird noise coming from the front area of my car. i think its from the driver side front wheel area.
when ever i go over a bump or down a bumpy road thers like a creaking bump noise sorta sounds like when the tire hits the arch but i know it isnt that. it does it all the while even at the slightest bump. wot do you think?
cheers dan

Did you replace the top mounts on the front, when you fitted the coilovers? Just a thought.

i was told today by a mate it could be that the bushes are knackered. could this be it? and how can you tell if the top mounts are buggered?

Sounds like your top mounts. They are consumables.

You could have someone wiggle the steering when the car is stationary, and you can put your hand on the top mounts (top of the strut) if it clunks or the is excessive movement then its probably needing a new one.

Speed bumps tend to kill them.
