Exhaust system diameter - Manifold fitted! Vid Added 22/01

Post by Tigz »

Wrapped my manifold on Friday so the cars going up on the ramp tonight so I can fit it.
It would be great if I could find a piece of pipe to sleave to the Cat' before I pull the car apart.
Does anyone know the diameter of the standard exhaust pipe before the Cat'?
Many thanks in advance.

Not sure about the bit before the cat as my system is cat-back, but for future reference the rest of the system is 50mm diameter (2") :)

Its around that near the Cat also :D
Was a lot easier than I thought it would be, I undid the alternator bolts to give me a little more room, but without air con, I don't think you would need to.
Oil filter stayed in place.
Hardest part was getting to the lower two centre bolts!
Need to weld on the flexi tomorrow (although I'm still not convinced it needs one), extend the wiring for the lambda probe, and sleeve to the system.
Unfortunately I have a later Polo, so the extra probe is there past the Cat'
Got too cold, so came in and gave the heat shield a bit of a clean.
Although you can only see a small part of it under the engine cover, I decided to polish it while it was off.
The wife was complaining about the noise so had to stop lol.
Anyway, couple of pics.
Cant wait to feel the difference!

There was lad off Club Lupo who did it on the car though, took him around three hours.

Yes, upper.
This it was for a 1.4 6N2 Polo.
So the seller told me, looks to fit.
Round is Alu, square is steel.. or its the other way, I don't know lol

Still waiting for mine from Demon Tweeks, its been two weeks :( although I think Chris will confirm it takes nearly three to arrive :)

The item description on Demon Tweeks describes it as steel for mine - its the "standard" round shape. I say standard because I've only ever seen them like that
