TDI Remap

I have noticed in a few signatures that some people have remapped their TDIs.

I was wondering how much this costs ??
How this effects insurance ??
How much power gain achieved ??
Improved response and acceleration ??

with a Revo remap for a 1.4tdi, Â£399

Revo are a company that produce software and distribute it out to companies who sell it and put it on cars. most offer a free trial which will have the software remove itself afetr 5 hours. for Â£399 you can get it perminantly and get some nice power gains.

Jabba Sport also do a remap software and a custom remap specific for your actual car.

Revo don't do the free trial on Diesel engine's - i've enquired about it...saying that i wouldn't have a revo remap anyway.

I'm getting my 1.9 tdi 100 remapped soon.

It says a min increase of 30 and max of 50 bhp, so somewhere in the middle would be nice !

I've added a panel K&N to help.

I'm going with www.celtictuning.co.uk

Its costing Â£300 but that was on special offer, not sure if its still on.

As for insurence, it says it really hard to detect so its up to you to tell them or not.

mine was done by angeltuning, they came out to my house and did it for 325, they also cleared any diagnostic faults.

the gain was suposed to be 35bhp and 40lbs torque, never had proof of this though.

it was undectectale by insurance therefore no increase

definately improve acceleration and pull, still a slight lag, which is expected with a turbo

i am thinking about getting mine done as well but i have to get some cash together for insurance first. I am sure you lucky bastids in England are paying buttons for your insurance. Try living in Northern Ireland being 20, having held a full license for 3 years with no points on a 1.4 TDi. Â£1800 fully comp.

i had my polo remapped by using a revo program the other day. so far the car feels it pulls harder in every gear, well worth getting.

i would have thought that the 1.2 could be re-mapped? i am pretty sure it could be chipped

If they told you this then its one big fat juicy lie. Dealers can check it now for warranty reasons and certain Insurance companies are now well aware how popular a remap is. They now have specialist engineers who have the knowledge and tools to check the ecu data.
I actually tune cars for a living but I would never use the sort of lines that most tuners use just to sell you a remap. In fact I would advise that
a/you tell the insurance company the truth
b/you dont remap the car if you are at all worried about the chance that VW may invalidate the warranty upon certain parts of the car because of this modification. Either wait until warranty is over or be prepared to cover any repair costs in case anything goes wrong within the warranty period.

thanks for the insight, i have actually sold the car now. I do believe the warranty was void because it was damaged repaired and not by VW? Yes they did advertise it was undetectable by the insurance.

its one thing that certain companies (and I know for sure its not just the one mentioned here) say this type of thing to customers but if they advertise it in black and white and you wreck your motor? the insurance dont pay up because of the mod, then you may be able to bring legal action against the company. If they have this in any literature or website then they are liable and your proof is easily printed as evidence.
I know its pretty unlikely in the UK to actually happen but I would not take that risk personally.

You would not find any US company claiming such things. In fact they go completely the opposite and disclaim every such product as " For off road use only" to cover their arses completely

Felt a little bit nippier, but its really hard to tell exactly.

I'd say it was worth it, esp if your going for a remap.
