rotor arm carbon fouling?

Post by telboy »

hi there, i wonder if u can help me with this. Drove my trusty mk2 1.3cl to work this morning, half hour into my journey car started to lose revs as if it was running on 2/3 cylinders then cut out. started with some trouble but still not much power, anyway got to work and checked rotor arm, slight carbon build up so cleaned it up with emery cloth and it is running fine now :? just wanted to know if this is a common fault or is there somthing else leading to this :?: thanks for your help on this [/b]

does sound like carb icing

make sure the hot air hose to the exhaust manifold is in good condition and check that the flap in the aircleaner works when its cold out

a skanky rotor and dizzy cap dont help nothing either, well worth cleaning up or replacing
