Valentines presents for guys!?

Post by Bryony84 »

There was going to be a thread about V-day sometime soon so here it is...

What do guys actually want for Valentines? I've been puzzling over this for a while now and have been shopping 3 times and still failed to find anything for my bloke. I'm pretty skint at the moment which makes it harder!

I was going to get him insured on my car for the day because he doesn't have one at the moment and I know he wants to drive it but I'm put off for a couple of reasons:

1. He put his last car through a hedge on a tight corner, which is why he doesn't have one at the moment.

2. I'll be working all day tomorrow so I won't be able to go in the car with him and make sure he doesn't do anything too stupid.

Do any of you guys have any good ideas for bloke valentines pressies/what would you want?!

Buy yourself something from La Senza or Ann Summers. Although not directly a present for him, I guarantee he wouldn't complain about the choice of present, or the unwrapping ! No offense is intended by this suggestion Bryony.

Alternatively, if your budget would not stretch to that, a 6/12 pack of his fav. beer? I don't drink beer, but have a sweet tooth and always like to receive my fav. sweeties of choice.

Dino, I used them when I test drove my good and it seemed to be very good but to be honest I don't trust him with my car, he crashed his 2 years ago, it had less power than mine and he hasn't driven since - I'd be a nervous wreck all day!

Mk4 GLX, good suggestion but I know thats what he's already got me so probably not very tactful - unfortunately beer won't work either as he has 2 crates sat at home! I bought him a 48pack box of kit kat chunkies for xmas and he hasn't finished those yet either!

All I have is an hour after work to find something - oh dear!

why dont you cook him a nice meal?

When I was a student I made my missus at the time some vouchers that she could cash back upon request examples as follows:-

a free massage voucher

a free car journey to a destination of their choice

etc etc

i'm sure you get the idea. At least this way it won't cost you anything, and they get more than one present, which at times can be mutually beneficial. Hope this helps :)

The voucher book is a great idea and they are great fun to make, unfortunately I did that last valentines and he hasn't used any of them yet!

I also tried the dinner idea as I love cooking and hardly ever get the chance to, but he plays pool for his local pub team and has a match tomorrow that he has to leave home at 6.30 for. Tried to convince him not to go but he wasn't having any of it. I'm realising just how awkward he is to get things for now!!

I assume therefore he has his own cue? Has he got a decent hard case for it?

Lol, its not really like that, its not just a nite playing pool down the pub. If he doesn't go, they probably won't have enough players for the team and will forfeit the match, he's the team captain so that would look bad!!

IMO valentines day is over rated. I dont really mind what the girlfriend gets me. Girls take it alot more seriously than the lads though , so we need to impress. I guarentee Bryony, he wont really mind what you get him. Something simple but still lets you know you love him. :P

I'm taking the Girlfriend out and getting her massage vouchers aswell, better get them today! Forgot

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss
But I only slept with you, because I was pissed.

I thought that I could love no other
Until, that is, I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.

Of loving beauty you float with grace
If only you could hide your face.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot
This describes everything you are not.

I want to feel your sweet embrace
But don't take that paper bag off of your face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes
Damn, I'm good at telling lies!

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming

My love, you take my breath away.
What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell
Except for maybe "Go To Hell".

What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.
