Help On Insurance For a GTi

Post by polomad »

Hi quick question for all you polo gti owners…
I was thinking of buying a polo gti but not sure because of the insurance costs. :(
Are they very high? Am only 19 and have been driving for 1 and a half years as a named driver.
Any of you 19 and own a polo gti?
Whats the insurance price like?
Always Really wanted one of theses little pocket rockets so any info would be great!
Cheers in advance people… :)

Sorry mate, not going to be that helpful but you should try calling around some insurers to get some quotes, my first year was £1100 and I was 26, but didn't have any no claims.

Other members that are 19 may be able to give you some idea, you could always try confused.com as a ball park figure...

I just turned 19 when I got my polo GTI, im now 20. You got to be the named driver cause the price is so high. I was named driver and my mother was the main driver with full NCB and the cheapest I found was £800 with tesco's, I also had 2 years NCB. I just renewed my insurance and the cheapest I found was £550 and im still the named driver, thats with directline. When I was 19 tesco's was the only firm that would really insurer me. You got to phone around though. Hope this helps mate

you have to be VERY careful using the above method - if you have a claim and they even suspect that you are the majority driver of the vehicle, rather than the policy holder then you'll be screwed over bigtime - it's effectively fraud and ins. companies are really cracking down on this sort of thing.

sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and insure a cheap car for a a couple of years to build up no claims

Hi Polomad,

Im a female, 19 yrs old been when i insured my polo i had been driving for 2 years.

I pay £900 fully comp with quinn direct but i have 2 years no claims aswell. my excess is £135 and i am insured to drive other peoples cars which is a bonus at 19!

I would give them a call and see what their best price is as they have been good with me.

xx

If you have an accident, you'll have to fill out the incident form regardless of whether it was your fault. They'll want to know where you were going etc. If you're unlucky enough to be in a more serious RTA then the Police could be involved. I'm not saying they would find out, but if they did you're likely to face serious penalties.

I got insured on mine when I was 19 (0 ncb), the first year was £1700, at the minute it's £1400 (1yr ncb) but come renewal I'm hoping for about £600 (will have 2 yr ncb) I think It'll be before my 21st though so will still be 20.

ive got the funniest and most unreal story.

Im 24 had a subaru impreza last car insurance was 1600 with 0 no claims. then it was involved in a fire. i bought a polo GTI yesterday......

Quote ffrom AA was 2200. Quote from elephant was 750. so i phone elephant and say yes ill take it lol. They say sorry mate you have had a claim for fire etc so the manager will have to call you back. He calls back and goes through all the usual questions, and silence...................

He hits me with it....................
............................................
......................................

£308

i asked about 20 times are you sure and he said yes sir! so i pay and run!

Still cant believe it like i cant believe that the polo's slow as fook! But a v nice car

I don't have a GTI but I would advise trying http://www.money#####market.com thats how I found my insurance for my 6n 16v. They search a load of insurers. http://www.swiftcover.com gave the best quote for me, £372 fully comp but with a high excess. I got 3yrs NCB.
