Insurance on an mk4

Post by Grindzewall »

hi im 17 at the beginning of april
ive got all my money sorted out for my lessons and £1000 for my car
but then insurance money ive got to sort myself
im after getting a mk4 polo with the money and just wanted to know how much people have got insurance for on a 1.4 or 1litre as a first car with 0ncb.
and who are good insurance companies to go with
most quotes have come back as over £2000 and that was for a 1995 1.4 one, is that about average that price??
thanks jake

Hi i'm 24 and paid an arm and a leg. My mk4 8v got totalled with 3 months left on my insurance. Bought a 16v and most insurers wanted around £3k without me even telling them about mods, most wouldn't cover me soon as I mentioned it. Payed out £1580 TPFT due to losing no-claims and having the current smash.

I'm 20 now but i got my 1.4 16v at the age of 18. Its group 10 insurance so fairly high but i got insurance on my own for £1400, thats 3rd party fire and theft. That was with liverpool and victoria, they were the cheapest i could find at the time. It went down to £800ish once i got my 1 years no claims so it aint that bad considering my beast is 100bhp and fairly rapid.........

Hoping that itll be around 500ish if i keep my no claims til september :D

I've been on the road for anout 6 months now, and spent ages shopping round as well. In the end, I eneded up at Direct line and haggled down to £1040, with no no claims bonus. Thats on a 1.4 CL, Third party only, but with a really low estimated mileage. As cheap as i could find, hope you get a bargain!
