Engine light on intermittently

Post by Ricochet »

Last week the engine symbol came on for a day , and was not there next day . i dosed it with Redex injector cleaner and gave it £14 of Shell V-Power as a treat .

Yesterday the light was on and not, today.

It seems to be running OK ( Last time the light came on when the coil pack(s) was failing, and then it WAS poorly )

? Should i worry ?

Could be your Lambda Probe. the heating element on them tend to fail. Theres two on the 9N one on the front of the Catalyst and one on the back.

To know for sure get a diagnostic machine on it to see if theres any fault codes.

Yes it would still come up with an error code even if the light isn't on when the machine is plugged in. The car keeps a history of all messages untill someone with a machine clears them :)

Well, it hasn't shown for a while.

I spoke to a guy inthe local VW dealers and he said these systems are very/over sensitive .

Maybe I'll change the plugs soon anyway
