Time for a rant

Post by thedees1 »

Its one of those months when every day you go to start your car somthing else fails.
Im sure vw have made the gti of of the s~~t parts just to make money out of us.

Now my driver side window has packed in all you get is the clicky soun when you press the switch, i stripped the door down , tried to get the motor out but couldnt then i just lost the head with it lol
i put it all back together now when i close the door it sounds like a bloody tin can arrrggghhh.

I ran vag-com on it to see if it would let me access the door module but no joy, instead i get these 2 bloody error codes.

Address 01: Engine

can anybody help with my faults or will i just order a skip for the car and throw it in.

ive added up on what all the faults with the car have cost me so far itcomes to £2009 already spent on it and i paid£5490 for it, if i never had hp left on it i would seriously be thinkin of getting rid of it now.

Well thanks for reading peeps my rant is finished :) :) i feelslightly better

Sorry to hear about the problems. Couldn't tell you what the codes mean, sure someone else will. I've spent at least 3k on my car (on everything excluding road tax & petrol) and only had it 8 months!

I must be lucky, had mine since October and only spent about £150 on it so far, apart from things I had to pay like Tax etc and wheels which were entirely optional.

Had mine 2 years the only major spend was the 60000 mile service & cambelt/water pump change (£550), if that counts :)

had mine since april last year and have spent approx 2k on it, but thats including 4 new tyres, cambelt/waterpump belt changed, 60k service, oil sump change, gearbox recon, sachs clutch kit, and no doubt a few other bits and pieces. not too bothered though as i have covered approx 25k miles in that time.

i've had mine since November and only had to spend £30 on a diagnosis to claim for a new window motor under warranty

i have been saving up to get cambelt, waterpump, cambelt tensioners and service done next month though!

That website Josh has posted looks like its pretty good!

Just did a quick quote and it came up at £22 a month and thats using franchised dealers to do the repairs! If you don't mind any work been done to it is at a normal garage then it drops to somet like £17 a month!

I think this could well be worth it, lets face it,

Cam belt goes taking a lot of the engine with it = £600+
Gearbox goes (common problem) = £500+
or
Warranty on the car for a year = £264

I'm seriously considering this, especially with 60k looming and the noises which i've started getting!

What do you lot think?

I've got a warranty with warranty direct (gold cover). £220 a year for me.

The gearbox is covered, as is a number of other things. One thing I will say is that you need to make sure that the car is properly services by a VAT registered garage according to VW recommended service intervals (the only proof of this is invoices, book stamps are not valid).

If you buy the car without invoices for servicing, not to worry, as long as you take it to a garage asap and get it serviced you'll be alright.

As the car milage goes between 50k and 100k, they only pay for repairs on a sliding scale, over 50k they pay 90% of parts, 60k the pay 80% and so on.

It's worth it alone for the gearbox I'd say
