17"'s on a Polo GTI?

Post by EuanGti »

I am looking to fit BBS RX II's to my Polo GTI and am looking to find out what the biggest size I can fit without any messing about is, and somewhere I can get them for a decent price.

Can anyone help?

You want to go with 16's really.

IMO it takes a lot of work for 17's to look good on the car.

not just that but 17's dont come in 4 stud that I know of so its real hassle, get the 16's, or stick with 15's and go nice & low

Agreed.

I'm personally yet to see a GTi on 17s where they dont look too big for the car. Plus unless you go for some expensive lightweight stuff you also get the big increase in unsprung weight, which is never good.

16s are probably the best compromise, although 15s and slammed is always a winner.

RXII's all the way. Ideally in 16" but as Redline says, slammed on 15" is a winner too!

Personally i'd say 17" are a little too big, but do quite like Calvin_GTi's car! Think he's on 17" Momo alloys, could be wrong though!

Your choice at end of day though, so go for what you want!

As everyone else has said 17's are too big for the car really. Personally i love the bbs rx II's, they are the best looking wheel for the car and it's just a bonus that there standard :D

I don't think they did.

I think he had a lot of work done with the arches, could lower it 110mm (which he did for shows)

16s with a decent lowerage, or 15s really slammed is my opinion!

17's can look good but will always look a little too big at the very least.

Imo don't go above 15" for a Mk2/3, 16" for Mk4/5 or 17" for a Mk6/7

i have 17" on but only because they were bought as a present a few years ago (sentimental kinda thing!!). Before i got them on i was recommended that i have the car lowered, which i did because if not the car would look silly and would look like it was on tractor wheels. I must say though i don't think mine looks too bad on 17" because the car just sits nicely on the rims. It also depends on wheels you get on 17" because some look chavtastic and some look quite classy and cool!!

Cheers

I was 16's before, but now dropped down to 15's.......personally feels alot better to drive now with the 15's on. I wouldn't go back to 16's. 15's and a big drop is now my fave style!
