Smoke (burning) from steering wheel area
Smoke (burning) from steering wheel area
I have a problem with smoke appearing from around the steering wheel. It happened yesterday after driving for about an hour or so. I have had an auto electrician come and look at it but cant find any sign of it. It was as if some plastic was burning. wondered if anyone has any idea what it could be.

its a common problem on mk3 golfs whick is the same part.
you may find they'll stop working soon. having said that, my golf did it twice but was fine after that.

Not uncommon - I had a fit the first time it happened to medjb1980 wrote:I have a problem with smoke appearing from around the steering wheel. Something to do with the horn power feed slip ring and dust fluff building up
Josh put my mind at ease when it happened to me and it's never happened since
