Engine Warning Light Reset?

Post by Dan_Gti »

Hey guys,

Had a problem with my car this week where the 3rd cylinder HT lead was split so was misfiring. Had the AA guy come out and he patched up the lead with some electrical tape so I could get home and this worked fine. He reset the ECU fault code so the dash warning light disappeared.

Ordered a new set of leads from VW the same day. I collected the leads the following day but the tape must have come undone and the car misfired again and the warning light came on.
Fitted the new leads there and then in the VW carpark and the car ran fine. But I still have the pesky warning light on the dash.......

I would rather not pay VW and I don't have VAG-COM. I have searched and found that some people suggest resetting the ECU by taking out the fuse. I looked at the fuse board and there are 51 fuses :?

Does anyone know what specific fuse needs to be removed?

There should be a cardboard diagram on the back of your fuse box cover. just look for the ones with the pic of the warming light i think there is about 12 of them though so it might just be a case of trial and error.

i reset my with vag-com as im lucky enough to have it

Yeah I noticed there are several fuses with the same 'Engine Electric' symbol. I don't want to reset something that doesn't need resetting (if you know what I mean).......
