Hello not another newbie!

I have just bought a polo sport 1.9 tdi for the wife but i will be driving it and caring for it too. i make my apologies early as i will be asking questions that you guys have already answered so sorry!

things i have picked up so far that you maybe able to throw light on:

1. squeeky going over bumps mainly rear of car...shocks or bushes?

2. slight rattle that goes away when the clutch pedal is pressed down..clutch bearing or gearbox?

3. driverside headlight bulb not positioned correctly so is blinding other drivers...was told the clip at back of unit is missing so need to buy new headlight..is that correct or can i make a clip?

if i need to replace headlight then i was told the whole bumper has to come off to get the headlight HELP ME what have i bought LOL! any answers would be great

Welcome

1) stick lots of lube/grease around the rear suspension just in case it's something simple.

3) I don't think the bumper is too tricky to remove, just some screws in the arches and underneath....

Will have a go with the lube around the rear suspension. don't suppose you have come across a "how to remove front bumper guide" on the forum did a little search but was fruitless.

1) Noisy suspension - agree with the above notes!

3) Headlight bulbs have three locating lugs on them normally - however - they will fit in some cars in the incorrect orientation - had this drama on the wifes polo, would have failed the MOT for direction of the beam but the tech just took the bulb out and turned it about a third of a turn and put it back in - job done!!

2) Been thinking about this a little... I think there is a joint just above the plastic inside the car, so it could be something loose that pulls back into position when some pressure applied, not likely to be anything really sinister unless its really noisy?? Can you hear anything from outside the car?

I took the car to an independant VAG garage and was told by a mechanic that it seems to be missing a black ping that holds the bulb in place and that i need to buy a new headlight as VW dont supply the clip by itself i did read somewhere when i was googling the issue that a guy made up the clip but can't remember the url of the website.

forum is really useful saved some money already with the DIY guides. glad to see the guys on the polo forum are as helpful and friendly as the Audi lot. just sold the wifes A3 and the polo was the best replacment.
