EPC light - Brake Light Switch has been changed tho :(

Hi Guys

The good old EPC light popped up the other day... GRHHHHH

After checking this forum, I check my rear lights and noticed that they were out. So... manage to get hold of a new brake light switch from VW dealer and fitted it ...it seems the upgraded version - shorter arm and with a white tip

So... all good... fitted it, rear light come on and EPC went out.

Thats UNTIL the EPC light came back on after driving it a few minutes ...checked the rear lights and they work when the pedal is pushed down???

The EPC light went off once the car is turned off for a few hours but then pops back on after 5-10 mins of driving!!! and seems to come on when i'm braking so its safe to say thats it brake light switch again!!

any ideas?

I'm tempted to try another switch but just wanted to see if anyone else has come across this?

I can't remember whether the EPC light needs resetting via VAG Com or not, I'm sure someone else will know though.

It probably will need resetting with VAG-COM

You can grab yourself a cheap vag-com cable of ebay for around £10 - £20 most of them come with a copy of the software aswell.

And if its a new problem it will let you know!

I had this recently happen with my car, and nothing needed resetting, the light just went out when I replaced the switch.
Also had my (!) light come on (in fits and bursts) which was due to brake fluid loss - only a small loss really over a longish period of time - just topped it up and it hasn't come on since.
