Does anyone know anything about surround sound etc?

Post by CymruPolo »

Is anyone on here any good with surround sound/home cinema stuff? My dad's after some for Christmas and I'm ok with TVs and DVD players but I don't really know where to begin looking with surround sound. I've searched on Google with not much helpful info to be honest.

Any advice would be welcome :)

Just what's the best stuff to get really. We've got a Samsung HD860 DVD player, I don't know if that makes a difference? i.e would Samsung speakers be best?

Ive got the Logitech Z5500 Digital Surround system. A mate of mine also has it, and its truly incredible

1000W of pure DTS/Dolby Digital/Dolby Prologic II power with inputs for three seperate stereo lines or one 5 channel input, an optical input, coaxial input, and a microphone socket, plus headphones so you can listen to it privately if necessary.

Its THX certified and everything - by far the best surround system ive ever had the pleasure of using second to a Bose!!

Logitech for PC and small home cinema is absolutly brilliant, the best you'll get for the money i must say!

For home cinema if you want something that'll last you a lifetime and still sound good in the years to come you can't go wrong with BOSE, mine set be back a few thousand for a fully installed home cinema but i'v never regreted it !!

I rate Harmon Kardon and technics equipment very highly aswell.
