How about a New Polo Gallery?

Post by mole »

You lot fancy sticking pics of our New Polo's on a webpage with a spec list or something? What you reckon? Just an idea.

I like the thought. Some forums I know have a section dedicated to their members' rides. Not a bad idea methinks. I suggest making it a part of this page though, not somewhere else, to keep it coherent.

Gallery Sounds Good!

Pic gallery sounds good but i think I'd be too embarassed to put mine on as have not modified it! And it needs cleaning.

Only changed headlight bulbs and sidelight bulbs and stuck a sticker on it!

My brother has lowered his, tinted windows, put new gear stick, new front
end and induction kit!!!!! Oh, and rear spoiler!

I'd like to, but I don't have any web space and I wouldn't know the first place to look. Well, I do. But they only host them for 24 hours

Yeh Speedlaw, that's what I was thinking. Could ask Josh to host it then, and link to it from the forums.

tdisport - doesn't matter mate, just good to have some pics of all our Polos up I thought :)

Nelson - Nah, we'd host 'em somewhere together, just send me your pics, and a spec list :)

Dunno about the hosting though, we could use free services such as Polo2K suggested, helps keep traffic and forum costs (if any) down. As an alternative, we could open a specific forum section where each member has his own topic, using the first post to show pics (that they can change whenever the car changes) and some info on the car as well.

I'd imagine it to like this then:

Topic title: [Name of member] + [description of car]

In my case it would be:

[Speedlaw] 1997 Dragongreen Mk4

or something...

Any thoughts on that?

Oh, and I think it really doesn't matter if the car is completely stock or far from it, there's no contest here, just a place to show'n'shine.

We could put it up at the top, with the Club House and Announcements sections...

Am I good to you lot or what? :D

If you look up near the club house, you'll see a new addition to the uk-polos family!

It's like.... Magic!

But if we host the pics on a public server, should we then still limit the size of the images?

Speedlaw:

2 reasons for the file size and image size...

File Size: Makes the page load a lot faster
Image Size: Makes the pages look a lot tidier! No sideways scrolling!

Could either yourself or Mole create an announcement on the Members Rides forum telling people how to post etc... ie what to call the subject (I thought "Josh_PoloGTi's Silver Polo GTi" would be a good idea!) and file/image sizes etc.

Thanks (that's what you get for having good ideas... you get made a moderator!)
