Photography Competitions???

I know back when this section first started there was talk of Photography and Photoshop competitions being run regularly. I've started doing Photoshop comps for the last few months so thats sorted, but nothing has come of Photography Competitions.

I know there was one started back when this section first appeared (Reflection Theme I believe) and actually got a fair few entries and people seemed quite keen, but that sort of fizzled out as Josh got too busy to run it.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there were any people that would be interested in having a monthly Photography Comp, much like the Photoshop one now, as I know there are a few people on here that are either into or getting into a bit of Photography.

Also if anyone would be interested in running it, as it doesn't take much effort/time to set one up. I would, but doubt I would have enough time with setting up the Photoshop comp already, plus the fact that I am not artistic/creative enough and not really been into photography enough to think of some decent themes to run

Yup, i did wander what happened to that competition! would be cool to have another one! i can't run it though

I think it's a great idea, and i'd be well up for it. Although all my spare times taken up in the studio atm i'm sure someone will be able to run it?

Sounds like a great idea. I may be able to run it - depends on what is involved? If its just choosing a subject, and giving some inspiration then sure!

Can't imagine there would be too much involved really. You've seen what I do for the Photoshop comps haven't you. All I do is choose a car, post it up at the beginning of the month, then at the end of the month, set up a voting thread and post everyones pictures in there. You only really have to do something 2 days in a month (post the comp thread and then the voting thread, plus maybe a little plugging/gentle reminders ), each of which takes no more than 10-15 minutes. The hardest part would be thinking of subjects/themes each month, which is why someone who's into photography (like yourself) is best suited to do it. Rather than me who doesn't know diddly squat!

i think it should be photography in general, not around cars, even though with a car involved may be better

Itll have a subject of my choice It could be cars, but more likely to be open. If you wanna snap a car as a result of the subject chosen you may by all means do so, providing it is incorporated into that choice of subject!
