Broken Clutch Cable

Post by degsy »

Just driven my son's MK3 1 litre back from him teaching to drive in it, and I think i was a little too heavy on the clutch pedal.

It seems to have pulled the cable out of the white piece of plastic which clips on the the pedal.

My question is, does the cable go back into the plastic bit, as i can't fit it through the hole i think it came out of, or do you have to buy a new cable with the white plastic bit already on it?

Hope someone can help.

I think you'll be needing a new one. The last one I saw had the platic part moulded onto the cable. maybe you could fix it, but the chances are that it'd go again soon enough.

A new cable probably won't set you back more than a tenner and it's easy enough to fit. Just make sure you pay attention to the route of the old cable before you take it off.
