im looking to buy a polo in the near future,has anyone put a golf gti engine in one and was it easy to do?and is there anywhere i can get a new origonal g40 body kit from?cheers

golf gti engines dont fit, not unless you have a couple of grand to spare, they are too heavy so really make the handling a nightmare. 16v 1.4 engine, polo 1.6 8v, gt or g40 are the best choices
vw still sell the arch extensions

as above really. seen a 1.8 16v in a european mk2 polo so they will fit, but i'd imagine its not an easy job!

a G40 lump is probably the most sensible conversion but a 1.4 16v or 1.6 16v from a later polo would be pretty cool!

the tall blocks (like golf gti engines) require a subframe, by the time you've sourced one from germany and got all of the other bits, it'll have cost around 2k! and when a gti 8v is just short of 120bhp in std trim youve gotta ask yourself if its worth it?
