I have also noticed this when I visited a local VW dealer here in South Africa that there is no key lock on the boot handle of an entry level 1.4 Polo. VW must be very confident in the quality/reliability of their boot unlocking system. Or is this another cut in production costs :( or a security  improvement?

What do you guys think :?:

Thats gurguss, the blue motions also dont have the lock in the rear handle.

Would you have to remove the lock from underneath to fit this?

I'd say the first answer.

With my GTi, there's no actual point in any of the locks, if the alarm is on (and its on all the time when locked) the fob is the only way to de-activate the alarm, is you use any of the locks with the key the alarm stays on, and you can't move your car!!

Nowadays, most vag cars come with only a lock barrel in the driver's side door.

I really like the de-locked boot also, it would certainly be a mod I'd look to get done if I had one
