mk4 1,8 20v Bi-Turbo on ITB's

Post by JarnoVWPolo6N »

Maybe some of you ever read about the mk4 a m8 of mine drives, he helped me more then a lot along the way of my project, he's "mister mk4" over here in Holland you could almost say   Jeroen Leenders is what is on his pasport

Here's a pic from last season:

But now the crazy f*ckerd got into a "arms-race" with another well-known Dutch-Dubber, Carlo Hulsen, who runs his own company, Hulsen Turbo Tuning.
Last winter Jeroen got the crazy idea, and converted his 1,8 20vT into an 1,8 20v Bi-Turbo, with two hugh arse Garrett's on it, forged pistons, head work, G60 transmission etc., too much to mention.

It generated approximately 440BHP, but that wasn't enough

So there can bigger inletpiping, a bigger intercooler and 4 throttles (ITB's) an extra fuel-line to the front, 1000cc injectors and some more stuff.
All of it runs on a stand-alone motormanagement system, and yesterday was the big day to ship the mk4 to Hulsen Turbo Tuning to get the motormanagement fine-tuned  And I couldn't resist making some pics and a flic, and let you all into the fun of this major project.

"Upper" Turbo (visible)

"Lower" Turbo (invisible, unless you look really close, you can just spot the inlet of the turbo, no filters used whatsoever, since that only restricts the air-inflow :P)

Now that's on full enginebay I can tell you

En natuurlijk ook ff een kort filmpje gemaakt

According to Carlo Hulsen, a power of 500-550 BHP is reasonable, IN A MK4!!!

Well, that's gonna be the problem, it's of course cool to say that you've got over 500 BHP in your mk4 Polo, but driving it is totally different, in the set-up of two stages back in the project (250+BHP on the wheels) he already got serious wheelspin while doing 160 km/h on the German Autobahn if he put the pedal to the floor, so this will be even harder to drive without wheelspin.

And the aim is to get it all sortedout for next sunday, then there's the German Autosport Festival on the TT Circuit in Assen, Holland. And he is planning on sprinting some runs overthere, I'll try to film it if he sprints and I get a good spot 8)

There would be no point, with the amount he's spent on it he'll never make half his money back!

Nice underbonnet action, but not keen on the paint job. Bit OTT I reckon, he's got gutts to do it but no doubt it handles poor. Like Tim says, he'll never get his money back either. Pretty sweet nether the less though

I love it, one of the nicest MK4's I've seen!

The paint looks great on it, wheels look great on it and I don't mind the bumpers he's got on it either.
