Need better Exhaust - Ideas please :-)

Post by more-bhp »

Ok to run the K04-001 properly I need better breathing through the exhaust....

So I need ideas as what will fit, etc...

We are talking defo downpipe improvements, maybe cat and poss cat back.

Milltek - no thanks - too expensive - must be better priced alternatives ??

Cheers J

Hey mate,

I've just done the K04-001 upgrade on my Polo. From the stock K03s I already had a custom 2.5" dump to highflow cat then 3" to muffler. I also have a custom FMIC. I couldn't have a 3" dump as it would knock against the firewall. But now I have a stronger dogbone mount the engine flex is no where near as bad. So I could probably go 3"??

Since I'm the first K04 Polo done by GIAC it's taking some time with the tune :(. I'm having a bigger MAF(the stock MAF is maxed out) fitted next week to increase the flow up top then it'll be dyno'd hopefully making 160+kw at the wheels.

Just a word of warning that you'll need to upgrade to a LSD as you'll blow the box and/or stock diff.

I want to see what is possible with limited mods...

150KW at the wheels more than enough, maybe run less so dont blow things up.

As I understand GIAC 1.8T upgrades require turbo, injectors, fpr, 3" MAF, and exhuast...

APR run turbo, 4 bar FPR and exhaust NO MAF or Injector upgrades...

But companies make these list of parts so their software is compatible with your car..

I will can get my own software done to suit the mods I have - thats why I need the exhaust doing - the standard peeshooter cannot run K04..

For cooling I am looking at snowperformance.de :-)
