Post by jay_muir »

Why am I having such a problem trying to find a 1.4 16v 100hp? I'm tryin local papers, autotrader, local garages and nowhere seems to have anything?

Any suggestions of wheres best too look?

its taken me 4 months of hard looking to find mine mate...
especially if you have a colour preference, you can literally kiss hours of your day goodbye looking on autotrader.co.uk.
they go sooo fast too, you need to be ready to walk out of the door as soon as you see a good one, with your cash in your hand.
try pistonheads, that normally has a few, im suspicious that everything on there has been ragged tho lol.
i found mine on autotrader=]
just takes plenty of patience mate.
hope that helps!

The 100bhp MK5 1.4 16V's are very, very rare. It has been known also that people advertise 75bhp models as the 100bhp models, so be careful.

The 16V badge and aircon is what makes it the 100bhp if its not very clear, so thats something to go by :)

Plus they have deeper bucket seats, like the GTI in a normal cloth finish.

I think they're rare because I reckon most original buyers will have bypassed the Mk5 16v and just gone straight for the GTi, which isn't particulary common itself.

Its definatly an insurance group 10
You can also tell a 16v 100bhp by the engine code as its AFK
