Do they really give you better performance. Thinking about getting one, worth it?

not massive noticeable power gains but it helps the engine breathe better so its better than standard and sounds the nutts i would never part with mine.

Yea at the moment i have a k&n on it. sounds nice, quite deep wen u put your foot down. no powergain what so ever though.
reckon its worth the money for a bmc?

U realy need a cold air feed to get powergains really and the vipers are 220quid and the bmc is 175 i think, try a second hand one itl be fine but u need a cold air feed induction kit, theres loads to choose from but loads of ppl have bmc ones, i think my viper looks better in the engine bay than a bmc, all red and that!

Dave,
If you're interested I've got the old BMC I had on my GTi sat around doing nothing. Filter probably needs cleaning out properly but otherwise it's all in working order.
