Depends if you want to sacrifice economy for performance, that being said it'll put you in 16v 100bhp territory.

ANy idea's how much the SKN tuning will improve of the performance figures.

Its said it can improve my 100PS to 116PS. SO that means... if i have induction kit, performance exhaust and manifold, I should be around 125PS in the territory of POLO GTi??

I was thinking this, but then remembered stories of people who said there consumption actually increased in some cases because they didn't have to put down the throttle as much as they used to. So when I get this (notice confidence there!) i'm hoping the consumption will at least stay the same or hopefully even improve

Damn, all this talk of chipping is tempting me!

If i do, it will take to me to about 140BHP and 320 NM!

The only thing stopping me is the fact I didn't order ESP.. I am silly

Chips... ehm well, a tuned chip usually reduces consumption a little bit. And still you get more horsepower. How amazing is that.

The downside of the chip:

it reduces the amount of fuel that is injected into the engine. And how more lean the mixture is the bigger the number of horses. But a lean mixture will cause the engine to heaten up more. Not a problem when a chip generates just a couple of horses. But when you gain 20 HP on a small stock non-turbo engine with a chip, I think that is risky business.

Another problem. Tuners often show you a list with gained horsepower etc. But what a lot of people seem to forget, is that the given numbers are the MAXIMUM that can be get from the chip. How or when the chip delivers the max. power isn't shown. I've seen a dyno-run from a Skoda Octavia RS. First stock -> nice powercurve with a smooth steep line to the red line. After that run they installed a chip which boosted HP with 40. The powercurve from that second run showed the predicted extra number of HP's. BUT the whole smooth powercurve was ruined. It constantly went up and down all the way to the red line. Half way the powercurve even went downwards so it produced less HP than a couple of 100 revs further back on the curve.

So be aware. And try to get some dyno-charts.

If I could point you in the direction of www.auto-amd.co.uk they do a self installing remap that you can remove and add at any time.

First it copies the original ecu program to the boxes memory, then it uploads the 'chip' to the ecu overwriting the ecu EEPROM.

OK, I've been looking further into this. It seems the only SKD approved dealer in the UK at the moment is Scotts Mototune in Dover. I just got this email from them...

The price for modifying your car would be Â£450 inclusive. This would give an extra 12bhp and @10% more torque.
