ADVICE NEEDED: VW MFD in Polo 9N - Should I? Could I?

Hi Folks,

I'm just after some advice really:

I have been offered a genuine working 'as new' condition VW MFD (Version G) compelte with P+P lead for Â£200.

Now as tempted as I am, I am not sure if this is a gneuinely 'good price' and if my Mother would appreicate this being fitted to her car

I would therefore be obliged if folks could confirm the following:

1. What are the thoughts on the price?
2. Is my understanding correct that (coding through VAG.COM aside) this should be a simple case of plug and play into the 9N on a 2005/05 (pre-facelift) plate?
3. Will I need anything else - I'm thinking that I'll srill need a GPS antenna cable/wire thingy too?

Now I know it wont make any difference to my Mother whether or not she ahs the MFD or not - in actual fact I don't think she'll actually use it (too complicated) - but I think it would make a for a very good MOD and on the rare occasions when I use her car, it would be nice

Thoughts/feedback/opinnions/advice all welcome.

Someone on here has one fitted think its version D cant remember his name now. Try doing a search for MFD

I've got one in mine. Can't remember if its version G or not, but as long as you've the MFD, and not the MFD II, then it'll fit no problem.

Simple job to fit it too, as long as you've got the radio keys. Simpley pop out the existing radio and CD changer (or cubby hole if you don't have changer?) and plug it in using the P+P cable. It should come with a GPS antenna, that has a magnetic base, which you can attach behind the glove box, to the under side of the Airbag housing.

I paid Â£230 for mine, about 18months or so ago. Not sure what prices are like at the moment, but just do a quick ebay search, there's usually a few on there (I got mine off someone on UK-MKIVS.NET).

Its definately worth getting imo. It looks loads better than the standard unit, and really sounds alot better, without the need to upgrade speakers or anything.

What have you got in at the moment? Gamma unit with a single CD player, a 6 disc changer, or a cubby box?

The car currently has a Gamma and single slot CD player fitted ATM. Being a Twist it has 2 x front speakers only - have been toying with the idea of pulling the rear door cards off to see what would be required to fit rear speakers (IE: if the wiring is already there and would simply require speaker fitting or worst case scenario of whole new loom etc.) - but in any event apart for doing this MOD for my own benefit, theres no real need for my Mother.

Really in two minds...

i think my next mod will be one of these.
i have a tape thing and the 6 cd changer in 1 and the sat nav wil look better i'm sure.
which ones actually fit?
