Here's the new (2009) Polo

Post by dxg »

Well, I've been keeping an eye on the various spy shots of this thing as it has slowly progressed from being a mini-MPV only to a clone of the MK6 Golf, and this:
Image
seems to have consensus on being pretty much the the result. It matches VW's stated intent and lines up with the camoflagued test mules that have been seen out and about.

Commentary on the web is: The complete lack of any design cues at all means it will have to sell on badge alone and people aren't convinced that's enough in the current market, especially when it's compared to the design flair of the competition's current superminis...

Deek.

Certainly fits in to the rest of the family (mk6 Golf, new Scirocco) with that familiar front end styling. Wonder if the interior fit and finish will be brought up to the same level as the new Golf?

I'm sorry to say that I like the new Fiesta more!

i dont like the new polo or the fiesta........ the problem with cars these days are theyre getting bigger, no matter wat the make.......

if u compare the old mini and the new mini,
and
old polo and newer polo. up to about the mk5 i think the polo is fine but, no offense, but then i think the polos just start getting to big after that.

ive got the same kind of problem. after the mk5, it just kinda gets chubby. styling is alright on the mk7, but nothing major to write home about. ill be keeping my 6n until i can get a 6n2 gti (with fresh gearbox!).

I thought the new polo was going to have backwards swept lights like the new fiesta and pretty much look like the bluemotion (i've seen a variation like the pic below with the bluemotion tiny grill)...

Found the other bluemotion thing I said:

It is sexy. No doubt. 1.4 TFSI with 178bhp :D Will apparently do 0-60 0.2 seconds faster than the 2.0TSI in the Scirocco or new Golf GTi.

from the side and back it looks nice, from the front it reminds me more of the porsch cayenne, i think it is.

the GTi version is looking OK but not brilliant... i think maybe the headlights are too high up and the car is looking a bit plump

Mk6 Golf is totally half arsed but still a good looking car, especially the GTI. The new Polo looks lame, but if the next Polo GTI looks like that then I'm very interested. 180bhp TSI sounds good too. Finally VW giving a sub 7.5 second sprint to 60 for one of their superminis, makes a change
