Pretty sure you can use the driveshafts and 'box also? Tom is doing that I THINK.
This really going down?

Tom has DONE that hahahahTim_GTi wrote:Pretty sure you can use the driveshafts and 'box also? Tom is doing that I THINK.

to be honest you really want the whole car to make it easier....
you will need custom mounts, driveshafts and downpipe and the wiring is fun but all depends if you run the ibiza ECU or go crappy standalone management
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
is a £1000 ono a good price for what i listed above? Also would it be feasible to do this swap at home?
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
ummm its an 'ok' price1der wrote:is a £1000 ono a good price for what i listed above? Also would it be feasible to do this swap at home?
i paid £1300 for a whole rear ended seat ibiza that was also a Golf+ feature car....
I honestly dont think its a great idea to try this swap at home
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
Why not do the swap at home?
If you know what you are doing is nothing that tricky about it......
But then again.... if you struggle to change lightbulbs..perhaps this is not for oyu

have you done the swap yourself then...?!tegwin wrote:Why not do the swap at home?

Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
was thinking of doing it at home as i dnt really have many good garages that would do the swap for me.
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
Haha... No... But I have built several cars from scratch.... does that counttomo87 wrote:have you done the swap yourself then...?!tegwin wrote:Why not do the swap at home?

Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
its the wiring that will do you in tho
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
Why? Its not a complicated engine from an electrical point of view.
There are a couple of companies who specialise in modifying VAG ECUs/clocks etc so they work without issues to allow just this to be performed.
When I was looking at using an A3 1.8T engine in a project car I was going to have to pay about £180 to have the ECU and clocks "unlocked" and simplified to work outside of the Audi car... Another 100 and they would happily chip it as well.... sadly I cant remeber the name of the company...they were down Bristol way somewere though!

Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
I can't see what's wrong with getting an electrian specialist to do the wiring. It's better than dropping the whole thing off to a garage and picking it up 8 weeks later all done.
Re: 20vt from an ibiza cupra
REVO did immobilise and defeat on my Ibiza ECU for £200 I think.....
Yes you can do it on your own, it will take a long time.
Tegwin - as for doing engine swaps before yes it helps but this job really isn't easy, hence there are only 4 running ones in the UK.
Mine being the only one funning factory management too.
