I've got 17s!!!!!

Post by VwPo1o »

Well, I knew the time would come, and it has; i have finally got some bling bling 17s on ma polo!!! Got three on today, and fourth one goes on tomorrow when it comes in the morning. As you can tell i'm pretty excited!!! Little problem with the front wheel tho, there's a bump well under the arches, almost where the mudflaps would go. the wheels scrub against it slightly just before full lock. Should i file it down???? I think i probably could. Anybody had the same problems???

P.S. Pictures coming soon on this thread. Never done this before, so how do i put the pictures on?

just so you know those "lumps" that you refer to which are actually the ends of the sills, are also the reference points if the car ever needs to straightened after a smash. this is all iirc of cource
ps if they are the sill ends then they will be over a milimeter thich so youll have a lot of filing to do

I managed to cut as much of the inside mudflaps as i could, it really has made so much of a difference. I'm getting the arches rolled next weekend, but i'm not really sure where to go. With respect to that lump, well i gues i'm just gona have file and file and file......

There's another one as well, style dynamax or something like that. Heard good things about them. Anybody know anything about them? What's the website address?

id have a good check as to whats behind the "lumps" as they may be the extremities of the sills which are verry important to the ridgidity of the car so id find out form vw how far allong (towards the front of the car they are nessary)and then act on that

It clears but only just. Sometime later i'll get 195/40/17 tyres for the front and then get 3mm spacers, it'll give it much more clearance then. Would it be good to have 195's at the front and 205's at the back, or should i have the same all round. Thanx polo2k for the advice.

P.S. went to the vw dealer and they said esactly what you said. He also said that it probably had a thin sheet of metal surrounding it, so filing it down would effectively get rid of the sheet, not good!!!!!
