Simply put - dont. They contain alot of complex and precise mechanisms inside for the projection lens. If that gets damaged in any way, its 200 quid for a new headlight!

I wouldn't advise doing it either. But I know it has been done.

The usual route is to heat up the seals of the lights and pry them apart, some people put them in the oven but it doesn't actually need that much, a decent heat dryer or radiator should do the trick. You just heat up the seals as I said and cut them off with a stanley blade. Then reseal them using some form of sealant (maybe silicone?).

I agree with Alex though, and wouldn't really touch the job. It's messy!
