Insurance, young drivers quotes?

Post by polo_mad »

I have a 1.4 16v, the 75bhp version. Im 18 years old. And the cheapest quote i got was from direct line for 146.50 a month third party only! This is ridiculous right? Would be grateful if you could give me some CHEAP quotes.

I'm pretty sure the 16v version is 100bhp while the 8v version is 75bhp... That is why your insurance is so high lol

Have you tried putting your Mam & Dad on etc.. Keep your mileage down too - Sometimes works.

Google Cis insurance. The quotes they give are much better than most of the better known insurance companys.

I'm with Bell insurance. I'm 21, with 0 NCBs, been driving 4 years and all my mods declared. On my GTi it's about £800.

your quite lucky tbh my insurance for a 1.4 8v 60bhp model is something like £1300 squids but then i suppose it is my first car i haven't had my license long and i do have penalty points for speeding ( thanks to owning motorbikes ) im paying it at 9 months of £151.38, but that does include 0 NCB and i have declared my mods

Watch out though, some companys dont count the 10 month policys as a full year. Normally only the companys that offer it.

Yeh bonus accelerator policies are a con, they'll claim they give you an NCB at the end of it, but it will only apply to the company you took it out with. i'm assuming they'll sting you at your renewal price also, as they know you'd be classed as no NCBs if you go anywhere else.

Same applies to Direct Line's 'named drivers no claims bonus' policy, works in exactly the same way.
