New Polo GTI

Post by DJ »

Confirmed by my friend in VW HK that the Polo GTI will be launched in 2005... she will be a pocket rocket with a 150bhp 1.8T engine...

Whether it's the 1.6 FSI turbo or the 1.8T it will be nice.

If only VW took a gamble and put the PD150 in the Polo and ESP as standard, they would be on to a winner with an engine that already wins over the hearts of diesel lovers.

The FSi would be a better proposition. Putting in a (frankly) old 1.8T wouldn't really make sense.

Rumours I've read say it's prob gonna have a version of the forthcoming Turbo FSI engine in the next golf GTi detuned to 170bhp. Should make for a 0-60 time of around 7.5-8.0 secs and a top speed of about 130 mph.

except for tuners. and people servicing it.

look at the CVH in the Ford KA - cheap as chips to run and service

VW in "inspired by Josh's photoshop" shocker!

TBH, though - the 9n already only has one headlamp unit per side, so this is probably one of the simplist/cheapst changes VW could make.

The intercoolere for the pd150, does not fit in the Polo platform cars.
