Hi guys just got a Polo 1.2 S 55BHP (9N1) now i am not sure if this car comes with an alarm? (would expect a standard VW immobiliser) - I got a standard key (not a flip key)
The issue I have is when I lock the car the red LED light on the door pin does not flash after even waiting for a few secs so im not sure if the alarm/immobiliser is going to be active....any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks

There should be a little card telling you what each one is for

I had that very same problem when i first bought the car. I bought a flip key with a unit off eBay for £50, bought a VW transponder chip to hold the immo code, had the blank blade cut and got it synced up with a laptop to start the car. (This gave me my manual key as a spare.) I noticed after fitting the unit and started to open the car with the remote, the red light began to flash on and off when it was locked. I think the way to tell if you have an alarm is if you have the little wired receptors in the top corners of your cabin inside the car. If you dont have those then the chances are you have an alarm for when the ignition is broken apart or a window is put through.
I dont understand though how my red light never worked untill I fitted the flip key remote control unit. Strange. Perhaps the unit completed a circuit for the red light to work or something.
