Sticky Accelerator

Post by BobbyG »

Greetings all,

I've noticed something about my Polo when driving on the motorway.

If I take my foot off the accelerator pedal it takes a second or so for the revs to drop. Any ideas what this could be? I thought it could be indicative of the throttle body needing a clean?

Cheers,
supermico

mine 1.4 16v does the same. Cleaned the tb already, but no effect. I'm waiting now for the weather to warm up a bit and then I'll have a look again. I don't know, maybe the throttle cable needs to be lubed, or there is an air leak in the throttle body system somewhere....... Maybe resetting the tb with vagcom would do the trick... Anyone else has an idea? :?:

There is no throttle cable, unless you have a very early 6n2. All of the 6n2s are a drive by wire throttle. It could just be a worn accelerator potentiometer (the bit that senses how hard it is pressed) Have a look under the pedal for wear.
