Removing xenon bulbs
Evening all, anyone have any tips to remove the xenon bulbs? I have it all exposed just don't know how to get it out and don't want to break it as we allknow what gti headlights are like...

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
From memory it twists out like a bayonet. You take the red igniter off the back by carefully twisting it a quarter turn and then the bulb twists out, though it may be held in with a clip (its been a while since i changed the bulbs in mine!)

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
well i've got the bayonet connector out, its just getting the actual bulb out itself- has a black metal ring/clip around it which seems pretty on there and the last thing i want to to do is yank it off and break the adjusters

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
I'm having hell with this guys, I have no idea how you get the black ring off without breaking the whole headlight assembly and adjusters- just the force I'm putting on my old gti headlight is immense. Arghh!

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
Right you twist the black retainer ANTI clockwise and remove it. Then refit in reverse.

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
Cheers for that Alex, although i still can't twist the metal retainer an inch.. looking more like a case of sticking with the 4300k

Re: Removing xenon bulbs
get a pair of long nose pliers on the gaps in the retainer ring and twist it anti clockwise
