brake wear sensor

Post by dswarm »

Hi all,

The brake wear indicator popped up about a week ago. So i did the normal things check pads and disks, brake lights etc. Everything todo with the brakes :)

However it looks like its being casued by the brake sensor cable.

Any idea on how to change it?

Many thanks

Matt

I think that the final section of cable includes the ABS wiring, so should not cost too much (unlike my old Passat which includes the ABS sensors in the wiring). Have you tried disconnecting the pad bit of cable? I think that with VAG, when the cable is disconnected, the monitoring system does not know that has happened - unlike Fords that I've had that had a third wire to check that the cabling was connected. So, I'd reckon that that means that the warnng light will only come on if the wire is getting earthed somewhere. Off course you can always disable the brake wear indicator warning using VAG-COM (VCDS) - but that means that you will have lost that safety related function.
