Post by greeny2515 »

can u use normal body filler (for steal or fibre glass) on a plastic bumper, im wanting to take out all the bumper trim and filling it in. i was told by halfords it would just peel off when u try smooth it in then eventually fall off due to plastic moving about.

i had some problems wiv these guys before so want to know if its true or not. i know its been done but i dony kniw wot else to use, suggestions plz

My painter suggests not to do it as it does crack eventully due to the expansion/contration and flex of the plastic he say you can get it plastic weld over tho this is better but more expensive I have seen the filler crack as well with stones hitting etc

I was speakin to my mate whos doing all my body work soon, a big suggestion is to prevent the cracking of normal filler, to plastic weld a strip in then smooth over the top.
He did however also say that carbonfiber type filler is ridiculously strong, useable on anything, maybe that could be another filler to thaink about?
