Rear break up grade

Post by bradley1983 »

I want better breaks at the rear.

What can you suggest in regards to an upgrade? bigger disc's and pads.

The back brakes do next to nothing mate, unless your sticking a 1.8T 20V lump in your GTI then it really isnt worth doing.
Even the 280mm uprgrades on the front make very little difference, its more for show than performance

I hit the breaks today at 135 and nothing happened. These disc's are like saucers!

Yeah as Bradley said, just buy a performace set of Discs & Pads if you want a slight improvement.
The back brakes do very little as I previously mentioned, its the front discs that are doing 90% of the work.

If your planning on doing those kind of speeds then your probably best just ordering an empty draw in the morgue.

Well said. These cars arent designed to stop to standstill from that speed. Even with G60 280mm brakes, you would still struggle to slow down without the brakes over heating and warping.

I was running late for work! I have hit 139 on the rev limiter. Its a hot hatch not a corsa 1.2!

I will get a new set today. What would you recomend for me? I don't want cheap Euro parts sets!

Its not a Corsa 1.2 but it isnt a Hot Hatch either, not enough power to fit into that catergory.

Still doesnt mean it should be driven at crazy speeds, Just remember you'll be behind bars if your caught doing those speeds.

As for the brakes it all depends on your budget, EBC Turbo Drilled & Grooved discs with Green Stuff pads are pretty popular, not much improvement in terms of performance but they look good behind the wheels. Other options are Black Diamond, Mintex, AP, Brembo etc

Blimey. Why didn't you just phone your work and say ever so sorry I'm going to be late in....

Crash at that speed and your going die, kill somebody else and you'll be in prison for a good few years.

With the brakes, like the others say not alot you can do with them really, there just not designed for that.

I work in london and live just outside bournemouth. There is a nice peice of M3 by winchester services that is dead straight!!!

My job, being late is not an option. This is all at early hours or late night driving not 8.30 on a school day.

I don't mind prison if i'm DEAD!!!!

Or you could try leaving a bit earlier dude!

That's crazy speeds for a little car, it may be classed as a "hot hatch" but that speed is a bit excessive. :?

If I didn't want to speed I would get the bus every where.

I'm trying to be safe and get better breaks! Whan I had my astra coupe turbo that topped out at 155!!!

I should slow down with my dodgy rear end till I get my new axle and shocks. Oh, and breaks

So let me make sure I've understood this correctly...

You have s**t brakes, a dodgey rear axel and/or shocks, you obviously have no understanding of how a car actually works and your doing intense speeds of 135mph? :?

Ouch, my head hurts even thinking about this one.
