Boot Light

Post by MrP »

My boot light doesn't work

I know this has been asked a million times over and I've done the research so please bare with me...

The Dash light comes on when the boot is open, the central locking locks itself when the boot is open and the boot light doesn't work.

I have checked the micro-switch for corrosion (none) and water leaks from the rear wiper (none), I've had the rear seats out and carpet up looking for a so called connection or wire split (none - Well as far as I can see it's a continuous wire from the boot light to behind the dash). All fuses are intact (and the interior light does work and I was under the impression the interior and boot light works on the same fuse). As far as I can see the boot light connections are all connected and intact without corrosion.

So now I'm stumped.. Only thing I can think of is that the micro-switch is on it's way out (But then why would the dash light come on when the boot is opened?) or I can't find a loose connection somewhere along the line (if someone knows the exact location of the connections that would be great)

Any ideas would be good..

Thanks in advance :D

Its a three position switch. There is a dash light trigger and a seperate feed to the light itself.

Im guessing you have tried a new bulb?

Best thing to do is open the boot, and get a multimeter on the light terminals and see if it registeres 12V

If not, then its time for a new microswitch.

Good times!

Yeah, checked the bulb, a multimeter was my next task..

I'm guessing it's the micro-switch..

Thanks for the rapid response Mr Perkins
