288mm Fabia vRS Calipers & Carriers - Fitment Options???

Post by 6N2 GTI 00 »

My mate has just uprated the brakes on his Fabia vRS from the standard 288mm to 312mm and he's now offering me his old brakes for a bargain price (calipers, carriers, Discs & Pads).

I know these can be fitted to a GTI but are they a fairly straight forward fit like the G60 upgrade or is there more work involved? I was planning on just the going for the G60 uprade but my mate is offering these too me at a great price and obviously the bigger the better 8)

Any help would be appreciated

Ben :)

There more work involved ben as as far as I am aware, they dont make a 288mm 4 stud brake disc. I think you would have to change to a 5 stud hub which starts to make things complicated

Very good point Alex, I cant believe I didnt realise that before. Feel like a right numpty now lol
Sounds like an expensive job changing the hubs over, I think i'll just stick to the G60 upgrade then to save some money

Cheers Alex :)

As mentioned i wouldn't bother with 16v 288mm discs. If you're after an upgrade go for G60 Discs and carriers, even then ive only ever noticed a slight difference if any. However a set with drilled and grooved discs ive been in a track pads was pretty impressive.

Good Stuff :D
I am hoping to get my brakes sorted next year, i'm still running just the 256's at the moment on EBC Drilled & Grooved Discs with Green Stuff pads

I did notice a big difference, but they aren't as good as they used to be. Perhaps a bleed is in order!
