Clutch Squeaks When Released

Hi everyone,

For the last 2 weeks, i am getting this Squeak Noise when i release my clutch pedal.

car is polo 1.4L 1999 (s reg)

It is very annoying even though it is a small squeak.

I was just abit worried that is my clutch about to go?

My car drives normal and even the gears are changed at ease. Never have any trouble apart from this squeak sound.

I am thinking of taking it to a garage but before i go, i always like to ask the real people

I dont want to go without any clue and get ripped as normally lol

any help would be appreciated.

It could be a few things. Most likely is the clutch cable is worn, or your pedal box is cracking (a common fault)

Best thing to do is spray some WD40 or similar around where its squeaking and see if it goes away. If it doesnt, then itll require further investigation

Sounds liek your pedal box could be dying. My mates Lupo started squeeking, then it snapped.

Hi guys,

quick update, i took it to 2 different garages so that i am sure what the actual thing is.

they both checked it and both put quite alot of wd40, but the squeaking is still there.

anyway they said i shouldnt worry about it as the clutch seems fine, they said i could have it changed but they said not to spend any money until the clutch goes hard.

currently it drives perfectly and goes smoothly into changing gears. just the small squeak sound.

one of them said its not a dangerous to drive around as i should wait for my next service in march ext year before changing it. It wont be that bad! lets see....

mine did this a few months back
Be careful, It squeaked for about 2 weeks, and then all of a sudden, the bracket in the pedal box snapped along with the pressure plate on the clutch

It cost me £250 to fix,
(new clutch, new pedal box, & Labour)

So probably be worth saving up a bit extra just incase it does go randomly.
