upgrades for injectors

Post by leon371 »

Hi people, just wondering if anyone else has upgraded their fuel injectors and and any other valves/ parts to go with it, not quite sure which ones to get as i am new to these kinds of upgrades, and not even sure if there are any side effects of upgrading these, i have done the exhaust and induction also and eventually am looking for a re-map...... if anyone has done these sort of things or knows what can be done would be much appreciated :) thanks

You wont really need to upgrade the injectors unless you inted to heavily modify the engine.
It isnt neccesary really unless you change the throttle body and start stripping the engine down with bigger pistons etc.

If your looking for more power than say 135-140bhp then your next best upgrade would be Schrick 244 or 256 camshafts.
Contact JBS Auto Designs in Chesterfield if you want a quotation because there are not too many Schrick dealers in the UK. Kent Cams, Cat Cams & Piper Cams are not in the same league as Schrick camshafts so I wouldnt recomend either of those 3.

Exhaust, Manifold, De-Cat, Induction Kit, 256 Race Cams & Custom Code Map and your looking at around 160-165bhp

As ben said, injectors are really pointless unless your seriously upgrading the air intake by turboing or supercharging the engine.Best thing to look at next is Cams.

No worries dude

Here is a quotation that I had from JBS Auto Designs for 256 Camshafts

With it being the VVT model your prices are as follows:-

Intake Cam 256 duration - £346.04
Exhaust Cam (choice of either 244 or 252 duration) - £318.68

Labour to fit @ 6hours - £352.50.
Custom-Code phase 2 software at £281.75
Rocker Cover Gasket - £10-15

Pricey but as Bradley said it is the next big upgrade and if you want to take your GTI to the next level then you will need Performance camshafts :)

To post a profile picture you firstly need to get yourself signed up to www.photobucket.com

Set up an account on there and upload the picture that you want as your profile pic.

Go to "User Control Panel" on here and then click on "Profile" at the top the page (2nd one along).
Next click on "Edit Avatar" which is the third one down.

The Avatar picture can only be 80 x 80 pixels (6.00kb max) so make sure you edit the picture size on Photobucket.
When you have selected the correct size for the picture (max 80 x 80) there will be 4 links below the picture.

Copy & Paste the "Direct Link" link from Photobucket into the UK Polos "link of site" bar on "Edit Avatar" and you should be sorted :)

I would be tempted with a re-map if your not getting the cams done soon.. As currently with a de-cat your car will be running in a fail safe style mode. There is a pre and post cat lambda meaning your current ECU will think the cat isn't working or your car is over fuelling and therefore adjust your fuelling according. In other words, you will not be getting the full gains you should be.

Yea will probs get the cams done soon, but will that make a difference to the ECU? Would I need to get a re-map done anyway to sort that out?

I beleive JBS will do a ciston remap on the car anyway as part of the deal with the Camshafts. If not your car will run like a sack of s**t if you have cams fitted without a remap.

Should see a nice increase though buddy.

Yeah you will need the Re-map the same day the cams are fitted.
256 Cams are lumpy at the best of times so its vital to get it re-mapped straight away.

The Custom Code Phase 2 mapping software that JBS use is a "on the move" map so you will be driving the car at various revs & speeds whilst some dude with a laptop will be mapping the car in the passenger seat. That's a proper Custom map which always gives the best results.

As for the Fiesta ST I had a go with one of them earlier this year and he wasnt pulling much on me, 3rd gear was identical but he was pulling away in 2nd & 4th.
He got me by about 2 car lengths in the end but with the ST being a 2.0 and having 25 more horses I was pretty happy.

Ok so it sences how the car is driving on the road so it can adjust the drive to suit the cams etc, clever... And yea I was pretty impressed how it performed against a 2.0 especially with a similar sized car lol

Yeah they custom map it to see at what revs it reaches peak power, they remove some of the flat spots and they may (im not sure) adjust the variable valve timing so it kicks in a little earlier. The VVT kicks in at 5,000rpm as standard when the cams change position so they may alter this with a custom map.

Expect figures of around 160-165bhp and around 145lbs feet of torque (roughly 200Nm)
