So I began the long process of refurbing my alloys the other night - and I'm confused now, do you sand right the way to the bare metal? Or just to the primer that was already there? I've kind of stopped at the primer level, as I'm unsure to go any further. I was surprised because the kerbing that I was worried about when I first got them has totally disappeared after sanding the layers of paint away. So, if I don't need to use filler, do I need to sand away the primer? Also, if I leave this layer of primer, should I go over it with a fresh layer of primer before the paint?
Clarification would be great!
(Oh, and Alex? I've decided on gloss black after numerous discussions with various people !)
Anyone ever refurbished their own?
Re: Anyone ever refurbished their own?
when spraying anything you usually only want to take the "shine" off i.e. the laquer then you can fill/primer anything you want. then rub it down again and add the coats of paint.
