Can someone jot down how to do the front pads and discs on the gti?

Many thanks,

I would suggest getting a haynes manual - makes life alot easier!

Anyway:

Loosen Wheel
Jack Car Up
Remove Wheel
Undo caliper mounting bolts and remove
Remove caliper and tie securely out of way
Remove pads
Undo carrier mounting bolts and remove
Remove carrier
Unscrew disc alignment screw and remove
remove disk

Refit in reverse order, remembering to push the caliper back in with either a big spanner, a g clamp or similar or you wont get it over the new pads

Things to remember:

Clean the new disc both sides with brake/clutch cleaner to remove protective layer before fitting
Use a good quality pad lubricant paste on the backs of the pads to prevent them binding to the caliper
Don't over tighten the alignment screw
And finally, make sure the carrier and caliper bolts are done up tightly.

And don't forget to pump the pedal up before you drive anywhere, or else you'll get a nasty surprise when you come to brake! :P
