Hey guys
My rear washer jet for some reason is playing up, it squirts fluid fine but, instead of squirting water vertically on the rear screen. all the time
it will squirt the water on the rear screen, but when the wiper moves to whipe the screen, the jet moves with it
so starting off squirting verticle on the rear screen, then as the wiper moves round, goes from vertical to horizontal with the wiper movement
anyone help?
if it helps anyone ive got the passat estate wiper, the caps not missing everythings in tact as normal?
Rear washer jet moving round?
Re: Rear washer jet moving round?
Same thing with mine. Except my rear washer jet is the original. A few months back it wasn't squirting. When I had a close look the little ball where the water comes out was pointing right down (as well as the plastic cover over the base of the wiper arm was pulled back- very weird) So I used a hair grip to move it so it pointed where I thought it should be. But it just doesn't feel right.
Like u said it moves with the wiper and when the wiper is right over to the left it sprays pretty much down the boot.
I thought it used to just spray up and stay there, but then I thought it was all in my head lol, and try to ignore it, but it does bug me.
Ps. Sorry that itS no help to you, I just liked that I wasn't alone in the rear washer jet problem lol

Re: Rear washer jet moving round?
This is a common problem and one which I fixed for nothing.
The washer fluid runs through a copper tube which slots through the middle of the steel wiper spindle. The copper tube is meant to be able to rotate freely inside the spindle but over the years it corrodes and gets stuck. This means when the wiper turns its twisting and breaking the copper tube. Thats the reason the washer starts to move with the wiper.
I dismantled the entire assemble and replaced the copper tube with a length of the plastic tube out of a Mr Muscle squirty bottle. Thats 12 months on and its still going strong!
Verity, my boot light went wrong when the washer started moving so imagine thats whats happening to yours!
Hope this helps.

Re: Rear washer jet moving round?
Yes! Very good point!
My rear wiper is completely off bounds at the moment (and even more so now!)
Looks like I'll be doing some dismantling this week!
Cheers Simon
