Stereo problems!

Post by Ladiesman_317 »

Hi, i bought a Pioneer DEH-7200SD stereo yesterday, fitted it and it works wonders! BUT today on the way back from college, i thought why not be a total cock and put the volume up really high?!, and 2 seconds later, the headunit cut out, no worries, "must be a loose connection!" So i got home, reconnected it, no luck and then i tried it on another car, it works fine, thats a reflief, thought to myself, its definately a fuse in that case. so opened the fuse box, one of the fuses, cant remember which one, but it was blue, and it was broken. so i changed it over, and that didnt fix anything! so here i am asking the experts, what do you think is the problem?!
Also, i tried installing the original stereo, and it says, safe and then 1000, im guessing im supposed to enter a code, anyone know what the code is? the VW stereo is a Gamma
Thank you!

the gamma vw one will code itself back in after so many minutes or seconds, or if you press fm or something, i cant remember exactly. if its the original one from the factory, they always code straight back in themselves when in the vehicle they were originally fitted to, (or at least should do)
as for your pioneer job working in one car and not in the other then you will have to see if the gamma works properly and the sound comes out first to make the decision,
double check them fuses as there may have been more than one thats gone and just your luck you changes one thats nothing to do with the stereo  mind you you said the gamma one lights up etc :S
good luck sorting it... if you do, let us know what you did and we can have a giggle

Just called up my local VW dealer, they said there was nobody in that would help me right now, then i called up the second nearest dealer, they picked up the phone, put me on hold and after 5 mins, put it down on me... tried Colbornes VW in Guildford, funny story this one, i got transferred from reception to the service bit who proved useless, and also transferred me to accounts! and then back to the lady at the reception desk.. who finally helped me out.. well i say helped, but she just told me to bring the car in, with the v5 doc and some id?!
WOW...
