Power steering problem

Post by jedimaster »

Hi,

I have a Polo 2010 (6R/mk8) and the steering warning light on the dash is on. The power steering has stopped working and the steering is heavy. The car was involved in an accident, but all the airbags/belts have been replaced and the crash data cleared, so the airbag light is off. Just the power steering is not working. I have check the fuses, hydralic fluid level and they are ok.

Any ideas what it can be?

Could it perhaps be crash data that needs to be cleared/reset for the Steering Assist?

Anyone with a VAG-COM tool in the Birmingham area?

Cheers

Seriously take it to the dealer to get it checked out especially if you have had a crash. Are you still using the car like this as you don't want to risk having another crash coz the steering isnt working plus you might not be covered on insurance knowing its faulty. Hope you get this sorted ASAP :D

As a rough rule of thumb a shunt big enough to set of the air bags mean the car (not just a Polo) is an insurance write-off...

Thanks, how much did the dealer charge you for re-calibrating the steering ecu?
