9n 1.2 single cam engine using a lot of oil

my polo 9n uses a lot of oil, its emptying itself atleast every 1-2 months but heres the thing, its not burning it, no blue smoke atall, runs fine, and its not dropping any on the floor?? any ideas where it could be going? plugs are clean and oil free when i check them. there is a misting of oil, nothing that screams leak, around the filter housing, but again, nothing on the floor????
